By early morning on August 23, Mr. Chonlatee, Governor of Chachoengsao Province, announced that it was likely that all nine people on board the plane had died. According to Thai media, there were five Chinese passengers and four Thais on board, including two pilots and two flight attendants. Among the Chinese passengers, two were only 12 and 13 years old. Xinhua News Agency quoted a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Thailand confirming that five Chinese citizens on board had died. Mr. Chonlatee said that difficult terrain and heavy rain had hindered the search.
