In the days leading up to the high school graduation exam, many students in Hue have temporarily stopped studying to reduce stress and prepare themselves for the best physical and mental condition. They visit historical sites such as Van Thanh (Temple of Literature) and peaceful pagodas to pray for luck and peace.

Many students brought incense and simple offerings such as fruits, cakes, etc. to Van Thanh Temple to quietly offer incense before the stele of the sages and doctors of the Nguyen Dynasty with the wish for a smooth exam with high results.

Le Ngoc Tam Anh (12th grade student at Nguyen Hue High School, Phu Xuan District, Hue City) shared: "I came here to pray for a comfortable mindset, to do the test smoothly, and also to calm my mind before the stressful exam day."

Hue's Temple of Literature was built in 1808, under the reign of King Gia Long, to worship Confucius. Later, under the reign of King Minh Mang, the Temple of Literature was the place where steles were placed to record the names of the doctors who passed the imperial examinations held under the reign of the Nguyen kings.

Every exam season, this place becomes a spiritual support for many generations of students.

Coming to offer incense at Van Thanh, Phan Nguyen Bao Tran (grade 12, Nguyen Hue High School) prayed that she would pass her first choice to enter Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and did not forget to pray for other candidates to pass their desired schools.

"Throughout 12 years of studying, I have tried my best and the high school graduation exam is the end of a learning process, but also the starting point, the "touch point" of a bright future. I hope to have a smooth and favorable exam in the exam room," Tran said.

Despite the hot weather, the grounds of the Standing Buddha Pagoda (Thuy Bang Ward, Thuan Hoa District, Hue City) were packed with parents and students coming to burn incense and pray for luck in the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Candidates from all over Hue City brought pens, books, exam preparation materials, incense, bottled water, and respectfully prayed before the statue of Quan The Am.

Vien Ho San (residing in A Luoi district, Hue city) said that from early morning, he and his friends prepared their luggage and traveled more than 60km to come here to pray for luck for the upcoming high school graduation exam.

"I have a pretty good grasp of the review content, but I still want to come here to pray for luck and hopefully pass my first choice to Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. I say I pray for luck but it's just to put my mind at ease, because I know my efforts in studying throughout the past time are the most important," San shared.

Like other students, Tran Thi Be Ny (class 12A5, Hue Industrial College) quietly found herself an empty spot in the grounds of the Standing Buddha Pagoda, placed incense and bottled water in front of the statue of Quan The Am, and prayed sincerely.

Ny said she had studied very hard for the exam, but she still couldn't help but feel worried and nervous.

"I go to the temple first to pray for luck, then to feel more comfortable and secure when entering the most important exam of my student life," Ny confided.
