Việt NamViệt Nam10/02/2025

Lam Dong province has over 20,000 hectares of durian, of which 9,121 hectares are in the commercial stage, with an output of over 140,000 tons. The area of durian using water-saving irrigation systems is over 7,000 hectares, with 500 hectares certified as safe according to VietGAP standards. Lam Dong province's durian consumption market is mainly domestic, eaten fresh, accounting for nearly 90% of total output.

Recently, businesses have begun to switch to processing peeled and frozen products for export to the Chinese market. Lam Dong province has also granted 114 durian growing areas and 13 durian packaging facilities.

Lam Dong: Tightening durian quality management -0
Lam Dong province tightens durian quality management to ensure export.

Currently, many businesses are having difficulty complying with plant quarantine regulations of export markets, especially China.

According to Mr. Vo Huu Long, Director of Long Thuy Production and Trading Company Limited (Loc An Commune, Bao Lam District), a durian exporting enterprise to the Chinese market, China's regulations on durian are increasingly strict. At the end of 2024, China requires exporting enterprises nationwide to have additional O-yellow quality inspection certificates.

This requires durian growers and traders to increase compliance with regulations from care, harvesting, packaging, inspection... to improve quality and meet the requirements of partners.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province has opened training courses on the process of establishing, granting growing area codes, monitoring, and maintaining growing area codes and packing facilities that have been granted to durian growers and traders.
