News from Noi Bai International Airport said that at nearly 4:00 p.m. today (September 1), the first Boeing C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft landed at this airport.

A second C-17 cargo flight for the US President's visit will land later the same day. Further logistics flights are scheduled for September 4 and 5.

It is known that these are the first flights carrying logistical equipment for US President Joe Biden's visit to Vietnam from September 10-11, at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Before each trip of the US President, Boeing C-17 Globemaster III heavy transport aircraft are often mobilized to transport the President's vehicles and belongings and entourage (including cars or helicopters) to the host country.

The C-17 Globemaster III, nicknamed "the workhorse", is the main transport aircraft of the US military developed by McDonnell Douglas in the late 1980s, with the main mission of transporting soldiers, goods, and military equipment to serve US campaigns and bases around the world.

According to MilitaryMachine, the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III can carry 80 tons of cargo - equivalent to 3 infantry fighting vehicles, oversized cargo and land on short runways.

The aircraft has a fuselage length of 53m, a wingspan of 51.75m, and is capable of carrying 102 paratroopers, up to 134 soldiers, or a combination of 36 patients and 54 emergency patients. In addition, this aircraft can carry 1 M1 Abrams main battle tank, 3 Stryker armored vehicles, 6 M117 light armored vehicles, 2 helicopters and some other military equipment.
