The 2025 AFC U-20 Championship qualifiers are entering the decisive stage with fierce competition between teams to select the 10 top teams from 10 groups, 5 of the 10 best second-placed teams and host China to enter the final round. The Vietnam U-20 team under the leadership of coach Hua Hien Vinh is expected to win a ticket to the final round.
U.20 Vietnam lost the top spot in Group A to U.20 Syria
In the third match of Group A taking place today at Lach Tray Stadium, U.20 Vietnam defeated U.20 Bangladesh 4-1 thanks to goals from Hoang Minh Tien, Le Van Quang Duyet, Nguyen Cong Phuong (the remaining goal was an own goal). Although winning, Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team lost the top spot to U.20 Syria.
With a resounding 10-1 victory over U.20 Guam, U.20 Syria rose to the top of Group A with the same 9 points but a better goal difference than U.20 Vietnam (14 vs. 11). In this group, only U.20 Vietnam and U.20 Syria are competing for first and second place, and the match between the two teams on September 29 will decide.
U.20 Vietnam still has a great chance of winning a ticket to the 2025 U.20 Asian Finals
In case of finishing second in Group A, U.20 Vietnam still has a chance to compete for a ticket to the 2025 AFC U.20 Championship finals for the 5 second-placed teams with good results. On the temporary ranking of second-placed teams, U.20 Vietnam is only behind U.20 Iraq.
