Convincingly defeating the Australian team, Vietnamese women's volleyball team enters the Asian semi-finals for the first time

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên03/09/2023

On the evening of September 3, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won against the Australian team with a score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-15 and 25-21) to enter the semi-finals of an Asian championship for the first time in history.

Before the Vietnamese women's volleyball team met the Australian team, on the afternoon of September 3, the Thai team brought good news when they defeated the Korean team with an impressive score of 3-0. Thus, if they only beat the Australian team with a score of 3-0 or 3-1, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will win a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship for the first time.

In the first game, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continuously took the lead and maintained a safe gap of 5 to 8 points. Striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy showed her class with many powerful shots. The Vietnamese girls easily ended the first game with a score of 25-15.

In game 2, the game was still completely under the control of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Hitters like Thanh Thuy and Kieu Trinh were always effective in scoring points and continued to help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win 25-15.

The third game was perhaps the most dramatic game of the match, when the girls of the Australian women's volleyball team caused many difficulties for the Vietnamese team. In the face of the strong resistance of the opponent, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still stood firm and did not let the other team take the lead. Thanh Thuy and her teammates continued to win with a score of 25-21. Thereby, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won the final score of 3-0 against the Australian team.

Thus, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team followed host Thailand to win a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2023 Asian Championship. This is a historic turning point, when the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participated in the round for the 4 strongest teams for the first time. This can be considered a particularly impressive achievement of Vietnamese volleyball in the continental arena.

On September 4, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face the host team Thailand to determine the first and second place in the group. The result will decide which opponent the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will face in the semi-finals.
