Establishment of Vietnam Sub-Committee in the Joint Committee with Spain on Economy, Trade and Investment

(PLVN) - The Vietnam Subcommittee in the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain is chaired by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

The economic , trade and investment fields are one of the important pillars in the Vietnam - Spain Strategic Partnership.

At the talks in Hanoi on April 9, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain Pedro Sánchez agreed to effectively implement the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the newly signed Protocol on bilateral financial cooperation, as well as to soon convene the first session of the Joint Committee on Economy, Trade and Investment in 2025 to maximize the potential and complementarity of the two economies, striving to bring bilateral trade turnover to exceed 8 billion USD in the coming time.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed Decision No. 1248/QD-TTg dated June 23, 2025 establishing the Vietnam Sub-Committee in the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain (Sub-Committee).

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is the agency presiding over the Sub-Committee.

The Chairman of the Sub-Committee is the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

The Secretary of the Sub-Committee is a Department-level officer of the Government Office.

The Sub-Committee members include: Department/Office level representatives of the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Science and Technology, Construction and Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Chairman of the Sub-Committee shall issue the Regulations on organization and operation to improve the operational efficiency of the Sub-Committee and the Joint Committee.

The Sub-Committee is organized and operates in accordance with the provisions of Decision No. 30/2016/QD-TTg dated July 28, 2016 of the Prime Minister on the establishment, organization and operation of the Vietnam Sub-Committee in the Intergovernmental Committee with foreign countries.
