Less than 22 hours after the match with Thailand, the Vietnamese volleyball team had to compete with Indonesia. Due to the physical exhaustion caused by the schedule of 4 matches in 4 consecutive days, coach Tran Dinh Tien had to prioritize using players with good physical strength when playing against Indonesia. That is why the Vietnamese team has players who rarely played in previous matches such as Nguyen Thanh Hai, Pham Quoc Du, Phan Cong Duc, Xuan Truong...

The number 1 scorer of the Vietnamese volleyball team, Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, continued to show his high performance and good physical strength when playing explosively. However, the Vietnamese team gradually lost the game, allowing the Indonesian team to rise up and win 25/18 in game 1. The Indonesian players, especially the duo Rivan and Farhan, continuously scored points, but the Vietnamese team's blockers worked effectively to have a spectacular victory of 25/23 in game 2, equalizing the score 1-1.

The Indonesian team played explosively again in game 3, making the efforts of Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and his teammates unsuccessful and they lost with a score of 21/25. However, the second team of the Vietnamese volleyball team played very well in game 4, thereby winning 25/22, tying the score at 2-2.

The match had to be decided by a decisive game 5. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan opened the score for the Vietnamese team in this game, then both sides fought fiercely for the score. At the crucial moment, the Indonesian players showed their courage and good physical strength to have a series of consecutive points, thereby winning 15/8.

Vietnam volleyball team has no chance of winning the championship

The 3-2 victory over Vietnam helped Indonesia accumulate 2 more points. With a total of 5 points, Indonesia temporarily ranked 3rd. Meanwhile, 1 point from the match against Indonesia helped Vietnam have a total of 7 points, temporarily leading the rankings of the first stage of SEA V.League. However, coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team have no chance of winning the championship because Thailand currently has 6 points and is likely to win all 3 points against the weakest team in the tournament, Cambodia. The host Philippines currently has 3 points but still has 2 matches to find a chance to surpass Vietnam and Indonesia.
