Türkiye “opens its doors” to Vietnamese citizens with e-visas from September 2025

From September 1, 2025, Vietnamese citizens can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) to enter Türkiye for tourism or short-term business purposes. This is an important step in the strategy to enhance people-to-people exchanges and promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the context of increasing demand for tourism and economic connectivity.

The Turkish Embassy in Hanoi has just officially announced that all Vietnamese citizens using ordinary passports will be able to apply for e-visas online without having to obtain supporting visas from Schengen countries, the United States, the United Kingdom or Ireland as previously required. This significant improvement is considered to have contributed to removing procedural barriers that have hindered many Vietnamese citizens when planning to travel to Turkey.

Accordingly, the e-visa application will be done entirely online through the official Turkish government system. The e-visa is valid for 180 days from the date of issue, allowing the holder to stay for up to 30 days per entry. The entire application process is digitized, reducing processing time, with most applications being granted within minutes to hours after the applicant completes the form and pays the fee.

With its special geographical location at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, along with its rich culture and many UNESCO-recognized heritages, the simplification of visa application procedures is expected to boost the number of Vietnamese tourists to Turkey in the coming time.

The e-visa policy also opens up new opportunities for academic exchanges, educational cooperation, and cultural exchanges between the two countries. In the context of Vietnamese enterprises increasingly interested in the Middle East and European markets, more convenient travel will effectively support survey programs, trade fairs, and investment connections with Turkish partners.

Contributing to strengthening bilateral connections, Türkiye’s national airline Turkish Airlines is also expanding its operations in the Vietnamese market. In the 2025 winter flight schedule, Turkish Airlines will increase the frequency of direct flights from Hanoi to Istanbul to 11 flights per week, and from Ho Chi Minh City to Istanbul to 10 flights per week.

With this adjustment, the total number of direct flights between Vietnam and Türkiye operated by Turkish Airlines is expected to reach 21 flights/week by the end of 2025. These flights will help Vietnamese tourists "touch" cinematic experiences such as: Hot air ballooning to watch the sunrise in Cappadocia; exploring the East-West architecture of Aya Sofya church; walking in Topkapi palace or relaxing among the "limestone terraces" in Pamukkale...

It can be said that the expanded flight network and favorable e-visa policy are expected to create a synchronous connection ecosystem, effectively supporting the goals of developing tourism, aviation, cultural exchange and strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Türkiye in the coming period./.

Previously, applying for a Turkish visa required a lot of paperwork, took a long time to process, and was expensive, especially for large groups. Now, with the e-visa policy, tour preparation time can be shortened to about 10 days.

However, to be eligible for an e-visa, visitors need to have a valid visa or have entered the US, UK, Schengen, Australia; travel to Türkiye by air; have a return ticket and confirmation of accommodation. If these conditions are not met, visa applicants can still apply in the traditional form at the Embassy in Hanoi.
