On the evening of December 6, the homepage of the Hanoi Police Club confirmed that goalkeeper Filip Nguyen had obtained Vietnamese nationality after a long time of completing the necessary procedures.

The Hanoi Police Club's homepage wrote: "What we've been waiting for. Congratulations to Filip Nguyen on officially obtaining Vietnamese citizenship."
With citizenship, goalkeeper Filip Nguyen will have the opportunity to be called up by head coach Philippe Troussier to the Vietnam national team in upcoming training sessions.
In the immediate future, the goalkeeper of the Hanoi Police Club may be registered in the preliminary list to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup finals taking place in January 2024.
Coach Philippe Troussier has visited Hang Day Stadium many times to watch this goalkeeper's matches for the Hanoi Police Club.
Filip Nguyen's presence will help his colleagues, including the number one goalkeeper of the Vietnamese team, Dang Van Lam, have more motivation to strive in upcoming tournaments.
Goalkeeper Filip Nguyen was called up to the Czech Republic national team in September 2020. However, he has not had the opportunity to wear the shirt of this European team. While playing for Slovan Liberec Club, the goalkeeper born in 1992 played in the UEFA Europa League in the 2020/21 season.
In June 2023, Filip Nguyen officially joined Hanoi Police Club as a free transfer with a 3-year contract.
