Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains in An Giang

On the morning of July 21, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the memorial service and burial of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in the Kingdom of Cambodia and in the country in 2025 at Doc Ba Dac Martyrs Cemetery, Thoi Son Ward (An Giang Province).

The memorial service and burial of martyrs' remains were organized by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the commanders of the armed forces of An Giang province.

Attending the ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai.

Delegation of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense offered flowers, incense, and paid respects to the martyrs.

At the ceremony, the delegation of Party and State leaders, led by Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with delegations from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, the Party Committee, the Military Region 9 Command, An Giang province and delegates from communes and wards offered flowers, incense, and paid their respects to the martyrs.

From 2001 to present, with the tireless efforts of the forces, especially Team K93, overcoming countless difficulties and hardships, searching and collecting 2,141 martyrs' remains in Cambodia, of which 251 remains have been identified. In the XXIV phase alone, the dry season of 2024 - 2025, searches were conducted in 42 locations, collecting 56 martyrs' remains (51 remains in Cambodia, 5 remains in Vietnam; 2 martyrs have been identified).

Along with receiving 25 martyrs' remains searched and collected by Team K90 (Military Region 9) in Cambodia; bringing the total number of martyrs' remains at the memorial service to 81, of which 80 were buried (1 remains was received by relatives and brought back to their hometown for burial).

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai read the eulogy at the ceremony.

Reading the eulogy at the ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai was moved: "This morning, in the midst of the sacred land and sky of An Giang, where the sacred souls of mountains and rivers and the solidarity of compatriots converge, we respectfully hold a ceremony to pay respects, pay tribute, and bury the remains of heroic martyrs, the outstanding sons of the nation who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the noble international duty."

The Provincial Party Secretary said that this was not only a ritual of morality and tradition, but also a moment of deep silence, the heartbeat of the entire nation, the voice of today's generations sent to those who have passed away. At the same time, he affirmed that the search and collection of martyrs' remains is not only a responsibility, but also a journey to find sacred memories connecting the past with the present, bringing the souls of the heroes back into the hearts of the nation and homeland.

The Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee said that the province will continue to care for families who still suffer the pain of loss, and continue to preserve the peace that these heroes have exchanged with their blood and bones. At the same time, it will continue to nurture noble ideals for today's young generation so that generations of An Giang youth will be proud, grateful, and live up to the sacrifices of previous generations.
