Accordingly, the subject of the investigation is natural tourism resources, including natural landscapes, geological factors, geomorphology, climate, hydrology, ecosystems and other natural factors that can be used for tourism purposes. Cultural tourism resources, including historical - cultural relics, revolutionary relics, archeology, architecture; traditional cultural values, festivals, folk arts and other cultural values; creative works of human labor that can be used for tourism purposes.

Organizing, investigating, evaluating and classifying tourism resources in all 63 provinces and centrally-run cities. The investigation is expected to be carried out within 5 years.

The work of organizing tourism resource investigation includes the following tasks: Developing plans and investigation methods; developing software and guidance documents for tourism resource investigation; organizing training on investigation work; organizing investigation implementation; organizing synthesis, evaluation, and classification of tourism resources; organizing publication and archiving of investigation results.

The organization of tourism resource investigation aims to form a tourism resource database system to serve the management, planning, development of tourism products, and development of tourist areas and destinations nationwide.
