On March 21 (local time), the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the official results of the country's presidential election, according to which, Mr. Vladimir Putin was re-elected for the next 6-year term.

TASS quoted the CEC's announcement as saying that the final result of the vote was that 76,277,708 people voted for incumbent President Vladimir Putin, accounting for 87.28% of voters participating in the election.
Speaking at the Kremlin after the official results, Mr. Putin expressed his hope that together with officials and people, he will firmly walk on the path of creating and building a new Russia in all areas, aiming to make the country stronger and more prosperous.
The leader stressed that Russia has the necessary resources to do this, but what matters is the will of the people and it was clearly demonstrated in the recent elections.
Acknowledging that there is still much work to be done to implement the priorities outlined for the country's development, however, according to the head of Russia, all plans outlined in his Federal Message at the end of February will be funded and must be implemented.
On the same day, after the CEC announced the official results, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent a letter congratulating President Vladimir Putin on his re-election. To date, Mr. Orban is the only leader in the European Union (EU) to congratulate Mr. Putin.
According to Hungarian government spokesman Bertalan Halasi, Prime Minister Orban expressed satisfaction that cooperation between Moscow and Budapest "is based on mutual respect, allowing for discussion of important topics even in the current difficult geopolitical situation."
Mr Orban affirmed that Hungary stands on the side of peace and that the country "firmly believes that maintaining dialogue is a fundamental condition to ensure peace as quickly as possible".
The Hungarian Prime Minister assured the head of the Kremlin that Hungary is ready to cooperate with Russia in areas not restricted by international law.
