In the first 6 months of 2025, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has directed and operated resolutely, promptly, and urgently to deploy tasks, especially concretizing and effectively implementing the resolutions of the City Party Committee on directions and tasks for 2025; striving to complete a large amount of work; ensuring progress in arranging the organization and administrative units; and gradually resolving bottlenecks and limitations.
The main economic indicators basically grew compared to the same period, such as: the city's GRDP is estimated to increase by 7.87%, higher than the national average; industrial production increased by more than 8% compared to the same period; total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 19.22%; export turnover increased by 4.86%; agricultural production continued to be stable, rice output was nearly 3 million tons; aquatic product output reached nearly 290 thousand tons, up 7.4%. The tourism and service sectors clearly recovered, tourism revenue increased by 20% compared to the same period...
At the same time, the plan to respond to the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the city" was completed ahead of schedule. The two-level government apparatus was initially consolidated and operated stably after the merger; national defense and security continued to be maintained, social order and safety were stable...
Chairman of the People's Council of Can Tho City Dong Van Thanh requested the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Committee of the city, departments, branches and localities to effectively implement the resolutions just passed by the Provincial People's Council, especially the resolutions on public-private investment that the People's Council unanimously assigned to the People's Committee of Can Tho City to adjust the medium-term plan for the period 2021 - 2025 and 2025.
At the same time, focus on accelerating the implementation of projects, especially key projects, projects with large capital allocations, resettlement areas, industrial park site clearance projects... and disbursing public investment capital to meet the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister, while ensuring the quality of works and projects, avoiding negativity, loss and waste.
Focus on synchronous and comprehensive development of cultural and social fields; improve the quality of education and training, health services, and the quality of medical examination and treatment for people; effectively implement social security policies, better care for people's lives, especially ethnic minorities; well control the situation, ensure social order and safety.
