Kallum Williams, 23, a collector of decommissioned military weapons, recently purchased a grenade that was advertised as unusable. However, upon receiving the package, Williams discovered that the grenade still contained explosives, The Telegraph reported on September 14.

He called the police and waited all night for authorities to arrive to dispose of the grenade, a Hungarian hand grenade used in World War II.

"It felt like a salt shaker. We were so nervous we couldn't sleep," said Mr Williams, who lives in Powys, Wales.

After arriving at the scene, the police cordoned off the area and evacuated residents for safety. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team used an X-ray machine and discovered explosives inside the grenade. The device was taken to a safe location for disposal.

Williams said the seller claimed the grenade contained only sand, but EOD members found no signs that it had been opened. He said he felt bad about upsetting his neighbors and insisted that none of the items in his collection posed a danger to residents.

In another incident in February, British authorities evacuated thousands of people after an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered in the city of Plymouth. The bomb was carefully handled and detonated at sea three days later, in what the Ministry of Defence described as one of the UK’s largest peacetime evacuations since World War II.
