On May 12, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu presented a copy of President Vo Van Thuong 's letter of credentials to Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Takeo Mori.

Deputy Minister Takeo Mori warmly welcomed Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu to Japan to take up his duties, expressing his belief that the Ambassador will successfully fulfill his assigned mission and make positive contributions to the relationship between the two countries. The Deputy Minister also pledged to create the best conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his duties.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu expressed his joy at being appointed as Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan at an important time in bilateral relations, when the two countries are actively organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with Japan, one of Vietnam's leading important partners.

The Ambassador pledged to make every effort during his term to further promote the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership.

The two sides agreed to promote the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation plans in the coming time, including plans to exchange delegations, especially high-level delegations, and strengthen cooperation in many fields from politics , diplomacy, to defense, security, trade, investment, labor, education, culture, health, science and technology, tourism, local cooperation, and people-to-people exchange.

Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized that the Vietnamese community in Japan is growing and has now become the second largest foreign community in Japan with nearly half a million people, making important contributions to the development of Japanese society.

The Ambassador expressed his wish to cooperate closely with Japanese authorities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to continue supporting and helping the Vietnamese community to live and work stably in Japan./.
