Instead, the "Red Devils" want De Gea to take a pay cut of around £175,000 a week if the Spanish goalkeeper stays at Old Trafford, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.

However, according to the Mirror , coach Ten Hag is still confident that a deal between Man Utd and De Gea will be signed.

"I think we want him to stay and he himself wants to stay, so I think we will find each other," coach Ten Hag shared.

Asked why the talks were still on hold, Ten Hag said: "I never comment on how the negotiations are going."

Besides hinting at De Gea's future, coach Ten Hag admitted that he wants to bring at least four players to Old Trafford this summer, with the trio of English players including Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Mason Mount being the top targets of the Dutch strategist.

After securing Champions League qualification for next season with a 4-1 win over Chelsea on May 26, coach Ten Hag said: "We can still improve with this squad, as we have done this season.

That's the work I have to do with my coaching staff. We have made great progress, a lot of individuals have made progress. We have a good foundation now.

I think there is still a lot of room for improvement in this squad. When you get the right players, it will give Man Utd more depth and better standards. Then the team has a better chance of getting into the top four and winning major trophies for themselves."
