Vietnam Team: From Nguyen Filip to Jason Quang Vinh

Jason Quang Vinh may be called up to the Vietnam national team by coach Kim Sang Sik for the match against Malaysia. However, the CAHN defender should probably learn a lesson from Nguyen Filip.

From Nguyen Filip...

Nguyen Filip, a goalkeeper of Vietnamese and Czech descent, was expected to become a reliable stopper for the Vietnamese team thanks to his experience playing in Europe and stable performance in the V-League.

In fact, during his first time wearing the Vietnamese national team jersey, Nguyen Filip immediately took the number 1 position from the time of coach Troussier to the debut matches of Mr. Kim Sang Sik.

Nguyen Filip used to be number 1 in the Vietnam team, but lost his spot to Dinh Trieu.

However, at the ASEAN Cup 2024, this goalkeeper was only allowed to play in 2 group stage matches, then had to give up the number 1 position to Dinh Trieu in the journey of the Vietnamese team to win the championship.

With what Dinh Trieu is showing, it is certainly not easy for Nguyen Filip to reclaim the number 1 position in goal (if he is called up to the Vietnam team).

Lesson for Jason Quang Vinh

Looking at Nguyen Filip's case, if he is soon called up by coach Kim Sang Sik, it seems Jason Quang Vinh should take that as a lesson for himself.

The reason why I have to say that is because it is not excluded that Jason Quang Vinh also has the same problem as Nguyen Filip, which is limited communication, not because of expertise.

So Quang Vinh also needs to look at that to draw lessons.

Of course, in the left wing position, the language of communication on the field is not as important as compared to Nguyen Filip. But regardless, Jason Quang Vinh needs to find a connection with his new teammates, which is very different from the club, where there is more time for training.

Apart from language and connection issues, in terms of expertise, the player with mixed French and Vietnamese blood is a good addition to coach Kim Sang Sik, however, to be a starter, he has to face fierce competition from his former teammates.

Specifically, with the appearance of Van Vi, who has been showing impressive performance recently in the Vietnamese national team jersey, he is a relatively "tough" opponent for Jason Quang Vinh.

So, although Jason Quang Vinh can bring a fresh and experienced international option, he will need to prove himself before waiting for any favors.
