(Dan Tri) - Many athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics have expressed their anger and returned their medals due to poor quality.

According to British media, more than 100 athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics have returned their prestigious medals because they were damaged and rusted too quickly, even though the event has only been half a year. That has made many athletes angry.

The Paris 2024 Olympic medals were designed by French jeweler Chaumet. Each medal features some details made from iron from the Eiffel Tower.

Immediately after more than 100 athletes returned their medals, the management of the medal manufacturing company was fired.

In fact, these medals were already rusting by the time the 2024 Olympics took place. American skateboarder Nyjah Huston, who won bronze at the recent tournament, revealed that his medal had been rusting for a week since it was awarded.

"These medals were beautiful when they were new, but after a while, I realized that the quality was not good," Nyjah Huston shared.

Next, other American athletes Nick Itkin and Ilona Maher also revealed that their medals were rusted.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it will compensate athletes with standard medals: "The defective medals will be replaced with new similar medals. The production process for replacements will begin next week."
