At the meeting, Minister Léocadie Ndacayisaba highly appreciated the contributions of Lumitel, the mobile network operator invested by Viettel in Burundi in particular, and Vietnamese enterprises developing in Brundi in general. Accordingly, Lumitel has brought practical improvements in the telecommunications sector, contributing to improving service quality and improving the lives of local people.

Minister Léocadie also pledged to discuss with relevant agencies to create the best conditions for Vietnamese enterprises operating in Burundi, and acknowledged the active support of the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications in sharing experiences and perfecting the legal system and regulations in the telecommunications sector.

The Minister of Communications, Information Technology and Multimedia of Burundi affirmed that Vietnam International Digital Week is an important forum for countries to connect and learn in the digital age.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung emphasized the cooperative relationship between the two countries, especially through the role of Vietnamese enterprises in Burundi. The Minister also affirmed that Vietnamese enterprises always comply with the law and fully contribute to the budget of the host country, while maintaining the spirit of close cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides discussed investment cooperation opportunities in Burundi, not only in the telecommunications sector but also in new areas such as digital transformation, digital economy and human resource development through scholarship programs for students to meet Burundi's practical needs.

The two Ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on enhancing cooperation and supporting digital infrastructure development.

At the end of the working session, Vietnamese Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung and Burundi Minister of Communications, Information Technology and Multimedia Léocadie Ndacayisaba signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on enhancing cooperation, supporting digital infrastructure development, sharing experiences and implementing strategic projects in the fields of digital transformation, digital economy and telecommunications between the two countries.
