Martial artist Tu Hieu Dong shared this clip on social media and expressed his dismay: “Martial arts is like this now. The audience all knows this match is a joke, but people still have to pretend to appreciate it seriously.”
Xiaoxiang Morning News later contacted the tournament organizers to ask about the match and received the answer that although this was a national competition, the match between the two fighters was a "show-style" match to score points, the goal "was not to actually injure the opponent" but to demonstrate "martial arts ethics".
