According to Dr. Dang Vu Thong, Head of the Pulmonary Department, Cho Ray Hospital, the department received two patients, VHBA (36 years old) and DBC (33 years old), who were hospitalized with respiratory failure and respiratory tract infection.

Immediately, the two patients underwent bronchoscopy to clear the dirt in the respiratory tract. The VHBA patient suffered from severe respiratory failure and had to be given oxygen. Both patients are currently being closely monitored for timely intervention.

At the Department of Tropical Diseases, two patients, TTB (43 years old) and NKM (22 years old), were admitted to the department in a conscious state, with a lack of oxygen in the blood and tissues. The patients were given respiratory support for about 30 minutes and were transferred to the Department of Tropical Diseases.

Currently, both patients are conscious, responsive, breathing on their own, with less chest pain and heaviness. Current tests show that the patients' tissue oxygen and blood oxygen levels have improved, with no convulsions or weakness; heart and lung tests and scans are normal.

According to Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Khanh, Deputy Head of Tropical Diseases Department, Cho Ray Hospital, sewers often contain household waste that will produce toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide and methane.

The hospital is currently conducting tests and plans to continue monitoring the effects of this gas on the patient's respiratory tract in order to have a timely treatment plan.

Earlier, at around 9:20 a.m. the same day, the PC07 Command Center received a report that on Tran Van Giau Street, Pham Van Hai Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City, there was an incident where many people were trapped under a sewer. Due to the presence of a lot of gas below, the authorities wore masks and gas tanks to approach, retrieved 1 dead person and brought him to the surface, and took 4 injured people to the emergency room. Initially, the police identified the group of people as public service workers. While cleaning the sewer, they encountered an incident of being trapped.
