Porsche Taycan electric cars in Vietnam must be recalled to check the battery

According to information from the Vietnam Register, 17 officially distributed 2023 Porsche Taycans need to be recalled for battery inspection.

These vehicles were produced between September 22, 2022 and August 28, 2023, and are the Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan GTS and Taycan 4 Cross Turismo versions.

The recall, issued by Porsche, is equipped with a high-performance battery pack, which is the main power source for the Taycan, the company's first all-electric vehicle.

Porsche Taycan is currently distributed in 8 versions in Vietnam.

During routine quality checks, Porsche AG discovered that in some cases the adhesive between the battery frame and the battery cover of the high-performance battery pack in the Taycan had lost its tightness, which affected the tightness of the battery pack.

On affected vehicles, the possibility of liquid entering the battery compartment increases and reduces battery performance.

At that time, the vehicle's central instrument cluster will display a yellow warning message with the message "Vehicle electrical system malfunctioning - Service necessary".

If the condition is not resolved, over time a red warning may appear stating “Vehicle electrical system malfunctioning – park vehicle safely”.

According to Porsche, no Taycan in Vietnam has been reported to have this error. However, the German automaker recommends that if the above warnings appear while driving, customers should park the car safely and immediately contact the nearest Porsche center.

If the problem is not resolved despite the red warning, and a certain amount of liquid accumulates in the high-performance battery pack, a short circuit may occur, increasing the risk of thermal failure.

From December 18, 2023 to December 31, 2025, customers can bring their vehicles to all Porsche authorized dealers and service stations for inspection and free replacement of the high-performance battery, if the inspection results do not guarantee the technical characteristics. The estimated inspection and repair time is 4 hours/vehicle.
