Rebuilding Phong Chau pontoon bridge to serve people

Báo Giao thôngBáo Giao thông18/10/2024

At noon on October 18, Phu Tho Provincial Police informed that at 12 noon on the same day, Brigade 249 stopped operating the ferry to build a pontoon bridge.

Previously, at around 8:30 a.m. on October 16, due to high water levels in the Red River and high water flow, to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, Brigade 249 cut the bridge urgently.

Brigade 249 rebuilt the pontoon bridge from 12:00 on October 18.

By the afternoon of October 16, pedestrians, motorbikes, scooters, and electric bicycles were traveling through Phong Chau bridge by ferry.

Unlike pontoon bridges that can allow cars and trucks to pass, military ferries only serve pedestrians and motorbikes.

Therefore, reinstalling Phong Chau pontoon bridge will more fully meet the huge river crossing needs of the people.

Traffic time through Phong Chau pontoon bridge is from 5:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

Currently, in addition to preparing for the installation of the pontoon bridge, authorities are still trying to find the remaining four missing victims of the bridge collapse.
