At the program, doctors from the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital examined, filled pits and fissures, and applied fluoride varnish to prevent tooth decay for nearly 900 students from grades 1 to 5.

Along with that, students are instructed on how to use toothbrushes and toothpaste properly and maintain effective oral hygiene; at the same time, awareness of protecting and maintaining oral health from an early age is promoted. This is a practical and meaningful activity for children in the school health care program.

Implementing the school dental program, Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital will deploy 5 new school dental points, giving schools tools such as: children's tooth extraction forceps, examination sets, tooth filling sets and bean trays for schools to prevent oral diseases for students.

In response to World Oral Health Day, in March, Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital also organized dental examinations and care for patients coming to the unit for examination and treatment; dental examinations and treatment for students and the elderly in Hoan Kiem district...

Regarding this issue, the Hanoi Department of Health has directed the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities to guide and support schools in implementing school dentistry; disseminate knowledge of school dentistry, instruct students on oral hygiene and proper tooth brushing.

In the coming time, the health sector will continue to implement school health work, including health care for students, teachers, and school staff such as: specialized health check-ups, assessment of nutritional status for students, first aid, school dentistry, prevention of eye diseases, scoliosis, etc.

The health sector will also conduct annual health check-ups for teachers and school staff, by specialty, and notify the results to those examined; maintain the model points and develop criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the school dentistry and school eye models.
