The incident in which Real Madrid player Vinicius was racially abused and sent off at the end of the 0-1 loss to Valencia in the early morning of May 21st has become the center of controversy in Spanish football in recent days. Many have strongly criticized the RFEF and La Liga for not taking action to prevent racism for many years.

Under pressure, the RFEF has just officially announced the cancellation of the red card that striker Vinicius received at the end of the match after losing his temper, arguing and fighting with a Valencia player. Part of the reason why Vinicius lost control was because he was frustrated by the racist boos in the Mestalla stadium.
The RFEF also banned one stand at Valencia's Mestalla stadium from receiving spectators for five matches and fined them 45,000 euros. Previously, the Spanish football authority also decided to indefinitely ban six VAR referees of the match, for the reason that they extracted video clips for the main referee to review and handle issues on the field that did not match the actual events.
"Because of these errors, the referee did not follow the entire course of events and did not properly assess what happened. That affected the final decision," RFEF said in a statement explaining the cancellation of Vinicius' red card.

According to the Spanish press, the RFEF and La Liga's current actions will somewhat reduce public criticism after the incident was considered extremely serious. However, this is only the first penalty this season related to the issue of racism, while player Vinicius is said to have been in a similar situation 10 times, although he reacted, most of them fell silent.
