On the afternoon of July 3, a video recording the moment of rescuing three children isolated by floodwaters in the Ben Mong Bridge area, Ia Tul commune, Gia Lai province, spread on social networks, making many people emotional and admiring.

What is special is that the person who performed this rescue was not a professional rescue force, but a farmer - Mr. Tran Van Nghia, residing in Chu Se commune, Gia Lai province. He used a drone, which is specialized in spraying pesticides on sweet potato fields, to rescue each child from the raging water.

Sharing with reporters, Mr. Nghia said that at around 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon the same day, while working near Ben Mong Bridge, he heard people shouting, reporting that a child was stuck in the middle of the stream.

"At first, the water was only up to our knees, and the children were still able to cross the river normally. But within 5-10 minutes, the water rose very quickly. The herd of cows had reached the other side, while the children behind were isolated in the rushing water," Nghia recounted.

The adults tried to swim out to reach him but were helpless because the current was too strong. In the urgent situation, Mr. Nghia thought of using the agricultural plane he was carrying.

"I flew the plane out, tied a rope and pulled two children to shore. When it came to the third child, the family's boat reached him in time," he recalled the breathtaking moment.

Although he admitted his hands were shaking, his heart was pounding, and he was very scared when controlling the drone in the whirlwind in the middle of the stream, Mr. Nghia said simply: "I just thought about how to get the kids to shore as quickly as possible."

Tran Van Nghia’s brave and quick-witted actions not only moved local people but also received admiration from the online community. Many people believe that this is a living example of the application of high technology in daily life – not only for production, but also to save people.

The health of the three children is now stable. The government and people of Ia Tul commune are considering a proposal to commend Mr. Nghia for his brave actions.
