Officers, soldiers and people build new houses for policy families in remote areas of Gia Lai
On July 31, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province said that the province has supported 12,520 houses for policy beneficiaries, poor households, near-poor households and households that have just escaped poverty, reaching 100% of the target. Of these, 9,106 houses were newly built and 3,414 houses were repaired.
Particularly, the group of people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs will be supported with 2,451 houses. The rest will be for poor households, near-poor households and families who have just escaped poverty – the most vulnerable groups in society.
Identifying housing as a prerequisite for stabilizing life, developing the economy and reducing poverty sustainably, Gia Lai province has considered this one of the key political tasks. The implementation program has received high consensus from the people, along with the cooperation of mass organizations, armed forces and the business community.
The total cost of the program is over VND807 billion, mobilized from many sources. In particular, the contribution of the armed forces and the community is a highlight: The military forces of the whole province contributed over 42,600 working days; the provincial police mobilized over 3,000 working days, mobilizing hundreds of tons of construction materials. The Fatherland Front and mass organizations of Gia Lai province also joined forces with over 22,600 working days, along with many necessities and household equipment for households.
Some localities also coordinate with social policy banks to create conditions for people to borrow preferential loans to build and repair houses, ensuring the effectiveness and sustainability of the program.
Despite many positive results, the program also encountered many difficulties such as lack of construction sites, increasing material prices, lack of human resources and construction techniques. However, thanks to the close direction of the Party Committee, the government and effective coordination between sectors, the difficulties were gradually resolved, helping the program to reach the finish line on time.
Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Ho Quoc Dung affirmed: “The completion of all program targets demonstrates high political determination and the spirit of not leaving anyone behind. The province has mobilized all resources from the state budget, socialized resources, businesses, philanthropists to the working days of the people, mass organizations, especially the drastic participation of the police and the army”.
The early completion of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses will not only help people stabilize their lives and feel secure in production, but also strengthen their trust in the leadership of the Party and local government. This is also an important premise for Gia Lai to continue implementing social security policies, achieving the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and comprehensive development in the coming years.
