Hai Phong City People's Committee has just organized a ceremony to commend and reward students and teachers of Tran Phu High School for their excellent achievements at the 2025 International Biology Olympiad.
Accordingly, at the 36th International Biology Olympiad 2025 recently held in the Philippines, the Vietnamese delegation had 4 students participating. Nguyen Huu Thanh, a 12th grade Biology major at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, was the only student from Hai Phong selected to join the Vietnam National Team.
At the end of the exam, Nguyen Huu Thanh won a silver medal. The Vietnamese student delegation achieved outstanding results with 1 gold medal, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Thereby, contributing to bringing Vietnam into the group of 10 countries with the highest scores in the exam.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee praised the outstanding achievements that Nguyen Huu Thanh had achieved in the international arena, and emphasized that this is vivid evidence of the increasingly improved quality of education and training in Hai Phong.
The Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee affirmed that in its development orientation, Hai Phong always identifies people as the central factor, the foundation and key driving force for rapid, sustainable and comprehensive development.
The city will continue to pay more attention and invest more strongly in education, especially in key education, talent discovery and training. At the same time, it is expected that the younger generation, especially excellent students like Nguyen Huu Thanh, will continue to foster the spirit of learning, innovative thinking, and integration skills, thereby becoming a worthy successor force, contributing to the development of the city in the future.
The Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee decided to award Certificates of Merit to Nguyen Huu Thanh and Ms. Vu Thi Thu Huyen, teachers at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.
Hai Phong City People's Committee also decided to reward a total of 720 million VND to individuals and groups of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.
Of which, student Nguyen Huu Thanh was awarded 400 million VND, teacher Vu Thi Thu Huyen was awarded 200 million VND. The Board of Directors of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted was awarded 40 million VND, and the teachers participating in teaching the team were awarded 80 million VND.
