On the afternoon of June 21, the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro held a ceremony to celebrate the exploitation of 250 million tons of oil and the 43rd anniversary of its establishment (June 19, 1981).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vu Mai Khanh, General Director of the Vietnam - Russia Joint Venture Vietsovpetro, said that 6:18 p.m. on May 15 marked a memorable milestone for Vietsovpetro when it successfully exploited the 250 millionth ton of oil.
After 43 years of establishment, Vietsovpetro's labor collective has made important milestones and marks.
On June 26, 1986, the joint venture received the first industrial oil flow from the Vietnamese continental shelf. Achieving production output of 100 million - 150 million and 200 million tons in 2001, 2005 and 2012.
"These are huge steps forward for a joint venture with initial investment capital of only 1.5 billion USD," Mr. Khanh emphasized.

After 43 years of establishment, Vietsovpetro's total revenue from oil and gas activities has reached over 89 billion USD, contributing more than 58 billion USD to the budget - accounting for about 43% of the entire oil and gas industry.
In addition, more than 39 billion m3 of associated gas is collected and transported ashore.
In recent years, when oil and gas production began to decline, Vietsovpetro implemented many solutions to stop the decline. The results helped the joint venture welcome its 250 millionth ton of oil nearly two years earlier than expected.
Vietsovpetro actively participates in protecting sovereignty at sea
After 43 years of establishment, Vietsovpetro has supported more than 75 million USD for localities to build electricity, roads, schools, stations... and other social security programs.
Notably, Vietsovpetro also actively participates in protecting sovereignty and security at sea through practical actions such as participating in the construction, conversion, upgrading and repair of many defense works and DK1 platforms.
