The list of U23 Vietnam preparing for the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers does not include Quan Van Chuan. The goalkeeper of Hanoi FC is the captain of U23 Vietnam, who won the Southeast Asian championship, and he was the hero of the home team with a penalty save in the final match.
Quan Van Chuan is also one of the most experienced players in international competition for the current Vietnam U23 team. However, the 22-year-old goalkeeper missed the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers due to unfortunate reasons related to a tournament he attended last year.
Quan Van Chuan is not on the list of U23 Vietnam.
In the 2022 AFC U23 Championship finals, Quan Van Chuan took over the starting position for Vietnam U23 after Nguyen Van Toan was injured. In the quarter-finals, against Saudi Arabia U23, the Hanoi FC goalkeeper was sent off for rushing out of the penalty area to block the opponent.
The red card directly means a 2-match ban in tournaments of the same level for Quan Van Chuan. Therefore, if he is called up to the U23 Vietnam team to participate in the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers, this goalkeeper will not be able to play in the first 2 matches, while the U23 Vietnam team will only play 3 matches.

Quan Van Chuan is absent, giving Nguyen Van Viet, Cao Van Binh and Doan Huy Hoang the chance. All three goalkeepers have made their mark in different tournaments.
Cao Van Binh and Doan Huy Hoang (both born in 2003) are familiar faces of U19 and U20 Vietnam in the last 2 years. Cao Van Binh was chosen as the main goalkeeper in Southeast Asian and Asian tournaments. Meanwhile, Doan Huy Hoang impressed in 2 matches played in SEA Games 32.
Nguyen Van Viet (born in 2002) has not played any matches in international youth tournaments. However, this goalkeeper has been given the opportunity by SLNA Club to play up to 9 matches in the 2023 V-League season. Experience playing at the highest level could be a big advantage for Van Viet in the competition for the starting position in the U23 Vietnam team.
