The Ducati Monster is a popular motorcycle model in the global custom bike community. Its distinctive trellis frame design, powerful V-Twin engine and compact shape are the ideal platform for many different styles of modification. Among them, the Ducati Monster S4 by PM Motorbike stands out thanks to the intersection of two seemingly opposite schools: the dusty nature of the Street Tracker and the sharp classic features of the Cafe Racer.
PM Motorbike founders Pier and Marco chose a 2001 Monster S4 - a Ducati 916-powered version - as the starting point for the project. It's worth noting that every detail on the bike has been deeply intervened, instead of just stopping at the usual aesthetic level. The rear frame is where the most changes were made. The workshop shortened and re-engineered the subframe with a tapered design towards the rear, integrated LED taillights, side panels and a minimalist two-piece seat. The new rear end has the look of a Cafe Racer but combines the simplicity of a Street Tracker. At the rear, the original single-sided swingarm system is replaced with a single-sided swingarm from a Ducati 748, a change that is not simple due to the difference in structure.
Along with that, the rear axle, sprocket and brake assembly are also taken from this sportbike model. This conversion not only increases the aesthetics but also improves the stability and performance of the vehicle. Up front, the original forks are retained but have been tweaked to increase visibility and create a striking accent. The fenders are redesigned from ultra-light carbon fiber. The old halogen headlights were replaced with modern LEDs, mounted directly to the lower triple clamp using a custom-made bracket. Up top, the original instrument cluster was removed, making way for a single, compact Daytona clock, the only one on the bike. The handlebar area is the highlight of the modified version when using a raised clip-on handlebar, creating a neutral driving position between sport and comfort. The brake and clutch levers are upgraded to high-end CNC, along with a billet oil tank to increase aesthetics and sensitivity when operating.
The heart of the bike is a 916cc V-Twin engine that remains almost the same in structure but has been improved in performance through a pod air filter system and a sport exhaust from QD Exhaust. In addition, PM Motorbike also equipped an electronic quickshifter for faster and more decisive gear shifting, something rarely seen on classic custom builds. PM Motorbike's Ducati Monster S4 is a prime example of limitless creativity in the world of custom bikes. Not only is the appearance of the bike changed, but it also has comprehensive technical upgrades, providing a different riding experience while still retaining the original spirit of Ducati.
