In early November 2023, the musical Shrek The Musical from the famous Broadway stage (USA) will be performed at the Hanoi Opera House under the form of copyright purchase. The project is expected to bring a new breeze to Vietnamese theater arts and new inspiration for young people.

The musical Shrek The Musical was purchased by The YOUniverse for music copyright, in collaboration with the creative team including Meritorious Artist Dang Chau Anh, Director Ylaria Rogers and Music Director Nicholas Gentile. This is The YOUniverse's biggest art project in 2023, invested in all aspects, from expertise, costumes to stage, professionally and magnificently staged.
Shrek The Musical is the second fairy tale musical to be brought to Vietnam for performance. In 2022, The YOUniverse also bought the copyright and organized a performance of Alice In Wonderland , but in the form of a student show. As for Shrek The Musical , the producer had to pay a copyright fee 5 times higher than Alice In Wonderland , and bought it from Broadway.
Shrek The Musical is not just a musical but a project that brings many values and meanings to the community. Through this project, The YOUniverse will open up opportunities for all young people who love the arts without having to meet old appearance standards or conventional forms of actor selection.
Shrek The Musical is also a professional playground for non-professional young people with a team of famous international experts from Australia.
Humorous, meaningful, with catchy melodies, impressive stage costumes and profound lessons on the topic of "equality". Sharing about the project, Music Director Nicholas Gentile said that the reason for choosing the musical Shrek the Musical is because the play carries many humane messages, such as equality in appearance, respect for individual differences, gender equality and class equality. In addition, Shrek the Musical is also a friendly musical, easy to approach young audiences, helping to bring messages to the audience more easily through music.

The number of actors and crew for the Shrek the Musical project is expected to be up to 300 people, and the project aims to reach about 3,000 audiences both directly and on social media platforms. The project's primary goal is to target young people, and help young audiences become more interested in and understand musicals. Currently, the project is starting to recruit actors for the musical of many different ages.
In particular, accompanying the profound humanitarian meanings in this musical project is the message of environmental protection, towards a greener - cleaner - more beautiful Earth. Specifically, the costumes of the actors in the musical are made entirely from recycled materials and materials such as nylon and cans. The project also spreads connection and sharing of love when the costumes and accessories on the musical stage are made from recycled materials and performed by disabled and less fortunate young people.
It is known that within the framework of the Shrek The Musical project, The YOUniverse also brings a series of activities to discover young Vietnamese talents in the arts and creative industry lasting from July.
