On November 21, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai signed a decision to establish a Working Group to resolve pending projects, stop construction to deploy, complete, and put into use to prevent waste and loss.

The working group is led by Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as Head of the Working Group; Ms. Le Thi Huynh Mai - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment as Permanent Deputy Head of the Working Group and Mr. Dang Quoc Toan - Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as Deputy Head of the Working Group.

The working group also includes members who are leaders of the departments of Finance, Justice, Construction, Transport, Natural Resources and Environment, and Planning and Architecture.

The working group is responsible for directing and implementing the Prime Minister 's telegram on focusing on resolving backlog projects, stopping construction, urgently implementing, completing, and putting into use to prevent waste and loss. Along with that, monitoring, inspecting, supervising, and evaluating the implementation process, promptly directing the resolution of difficulties and problems in accordance with regulations.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a plan to implement measures to handle backlogged projects and works, construction stops, slow-progress construction projects, and unused or ineffectively used works, headquarters, and offices.

The plan aims to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the direction of General Secretary To Lam on combating waste; effectively organize the implementation of the Government's resolutions and the Prime Minister's directions on the effective use of resources, quickly deploy works and projects, and avoid loss and waste.

Accordingly, the city's departments, branches, and sectors, Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and Thu Duc City; heads of enterprises with 100% state-owned charter capital under the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City or of enterprises with capital contributions from these enterprises, based on their assigned functions, tasks, and powers, focus on implementing the review to completely resolve the backlog of works and projects, promptly deploy, complete, and put them into use to prevent waste and loss.
