Lack of legal knowledge, knowledge and skills when participating in traffic poses a very high risk of traffic accidents, especially for students. Faced with this reality, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee is implementing a series of solutions to prevent and reduce traffic accidents involving students.

Disseminate legal knowledge about traffic order and safety to students.

On the afternoon of April 19, the weather in Lao Cai was extremely hot, but nearly 200 students from Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, Lao Cai City High School No. 1 and Lao Cai City High School No. 2 still participated in the pilot program to improve legal knowledge and safe motorbike driving skills for high school students. After being taught legal knowledge on ensuring traffic safety and order, safe driving skills, the students were divided into groups, wearing protective clothing, helmets, and taking turns driving electric motorbikes on the training course under the direct guidance of experts from Honda Vietnam Company.

Student Bui Duy Thai, grade 11, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, said: By participating in the program, I have gained more legal knowledge and skills when participating in traffic. At the same time, I can convey the knowledge and experience I have learned about traffic order and safety to my friends and people around me so that I can participate in traffic safely.

Nguyen Thi Thao, grade 11, Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, said: This is a useful program for students. The program not only helps us gain knowledge about traffic order and safety, but also gives us skills to handle emergency situations that occur when participating in traffic.

The pilot program to improve legal knowledge and safe motorbike driving skills for high school students was organized by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Transport, the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police), the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, the Road Motor Vehicle Driving Training and Testing Center (Lao Cai College) in the afternoon of April 19, the morning of April 20 and concluded on the morning of April 21.

Mr. Tran Xuan Quy, Chief of Office of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, said: Recently, there have been a number of traffic accidents involving students in the province. Therefore, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, in coordination with relevant agencies and units, organized a pilot program to provide legal knowledge and safe motorbike driving skills to high school students. Through the program, students will understand legal knowledge about traffic order and safety. In addition, it will help us make timely recommendations and proposals to the authorities on appropriate solutions in developing regulations related to training, testing, and granting driving licenses, or certificates of training in knowledge and safe driving skills for motorbike drivers.

In recent times, the authorities have increased propaganda, dissemination of legal education and patrolling, controlling and handling violations of traffic safety and order related to students. However, the situation of students violating traffic safety and order still occurs, the main violations include: driving motorbikes and mopeds when not meeting the conditions prescribed by law; not wearing helmets, speeding, reckless driving, weaving, etc.

To minimize and eventually handle violations of traffic safety and order by students, cooperation and coordination from many sides are needed. In addition to propaganda, dissemination of legal education and handling of violations by the authorities, it is necessary to have active participation from families, schools and the whole society to help students change their awareness and behavior to participate in traffic safely.
