On November 9, Hoi An City Police, Quang Nam Province, said they had just discovered two subjects HPH and PMN (both residing in Hoi An City) showing signs of illegal use of "American weed" so they invited them to the headquarters for questioning.

Based on the statements of H. and N., the Working Group of the Economic Crime Investigation Police Team - Drugs of Hoi An City Police coordinated with Tan An Ward Police to monitor and ambush.
At around 10:40 a.m. on November 8, the authorities discovered a suspicious taxi parked in front of house number 47 Pham Van Dong (Hoa Thanh block, Tan An ward) so they proceeded to check. There, the police discovered Nguyen Thanh Thinh (born in 1989, residing in Vinh Dien ward, Dien Ban town) with 12 plastic bags containing dried plants (American weed and tobacco grass) and other related objects.
The working group drew up a record of the incident, sealed objects and documents, and brought the subject to headquarters for investigation.
Expanding the investigation, the Investigation Police Agency of Hoi An City Police invited Dang Nhan (born 1991, residing in Tan An ward) to the headquarters for investigation.
Nhan confessed to ordering "American weed" and "Tobacco weed" on social media and selling them to Thinh so that Thinh could resell them for profit. During an emergency search of Dang Nhan's house, authorities seized 8 grams of "American weed" and "Tobacco weed" along with tools used to divide the drugs.
Hoi An City Police are detaining Nguyen Thanh Thinh and Dang Nhan to continue investigating and clarifying the act of illegal drug trafficking.
