On the morning of April 16, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet received Colombian Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of multilateral affairs Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir on the occasion of his attendance at the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit taking place in Hanoi from April 14-17.

At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the bilateral relations between Vietnam and Colombia in recent years. Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet expressed his delight at the positive developments in the bilateral relationship. Especially in the economic and trade fields, Colombia is one of Vietnam's leading trade partners in Latin America with a continuously growing bilateral trade turnover. In 2024, the trade turnover between the two countries reached more than 670 million USD.

Deputy Minister Do Hung Viet also suggested that the two sides increase the exchange of high-level delegations, promote existing cooperation mechanisms and boost connectivity, creating a favorable environment and framework for bilateral economic relations.

Deputy Minister Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir expressed that Colombia attaches importance to its relations with Vietnam and appreciates the potential for bilateral cooperation, not only in trade and economy but also in education, green energy, renewable energy, and climate change response. Colombia, as an active member of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Pacific Alliance (PA), is ready to promote the relations of these regional organizations with Vietnam and ASEAN.

On this occasion, the two sides discussed and shared many common views and assessments of the world situation, as well as challenges and difficulties for global peace, stability and development, multilateralism and the United Nations. The two Deputy Ministers agreed that the two countries should strengthen cooperation in international organizations, promote the role of international law and multilateralism, and promote inter-regional connectivity and cooperation between East Asia and Latin America.
