At the Sa Huynh salt fields, Consul General Mori Takero and his wife were impressed by the simple, poetic beauty. The salt fields are close together, creating a unique natural picture, especially when the sunlight shines, creating a white, sparkling scene.
In particular, Consul General Mori Takero and his wife learned about the salt making process from drying seawater, dispersing to crystallize salt, to harvesting.
Sa Huynh salt fields are a symbol of connection with the heritage and culture of Central Vietnam. With more than 100 years of history, this is not only an important salt production site, but also a symbol of a traditional craft village.
The Sa Huynh salt fields, formed in the 19th century, are a space that preserves a unique historical and cultural story. This is also a place that creates a livelihood for more than 500 salt farmers in 3 residential groups: Tan Diem, Thach Duc 1 and Long Thanh 1. Every year, the Sa Huynh salt fields supply the market with 6,000 - 6,500 tons of salt.
Currently, Sa Huynh salt farmers still maintain the traditional method of making salt on the ground, which not only preserves the culture, but also creates the unique flavor of Sa Huynh salt.
Sa Huynh salt making profession was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Visiting the Go Co community tourism village, Consul General Mori Takero and his wife were impressed by the village that still retains its original wildness. The thatched houses, rustic earthen walls, and open, friendly people.
Although the people here participate in developing community tourism, they are very conscious of protecting the ancient village. They preserve their houses, traditional customs and protect the stone roads and ancient wells of the village.
The homestays are also designed and given rustic names, closely related to the village's heritage such as: Gieng Co homestay, Bai Choi homestay, Nha Tranh homestay...
Go Co Village is located on the coast of Sa Huynh. This is an attractive community tourism destination with the customs, habits and cultural exchanges of Dong Son, Cham Pa, and Sa Huynh. The ancient cultural breath of these three periods seems to still permeate every inch of land, in the blood and flesh of the residents.
“I am very impressed with the salt fields of Sa Huynh salt farmers and the community tourism village of Go Co, especially the thatched-roof homestays here. I will definitely come back here to visit the salt fields, visit Go Co village and the beautiful scenery of Sa Huynh with my friends and relatives as soon as possible,” said Mr. Mori Takero.
On this occasion, Consul General Mori Takero and his wife will visit historical sites and scenic spots in Quang Ngai province.
