According to Tien Phong, this morning (December 18), Ho Chi Minh City continued its series of cool, chilly days like in Da Lat, with the lowest temperature ranging from 22-23 degrees Celsius. On the streets, people put on extra coats, scarves, and masks to go to school and work.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Tuyen (who sells bread on An Duong Vuong Street, Binh Tan District) said that the weather has been cold since December 14-15.
“I remember the end of last year was not as cold as this year. Because I had to wake up early at 4-5am to prepare for business, I had to wear an extra coat, the early morning was the coldest time,” Ms. Tuyen shared.

According to the air monitoring application Air Visual (belonging to IQAir, which owns a huge amount of aggregated data on air quality and is headquartered in Switzerland), many areas in Ho Chi Minh City have air quality measurement points that are not good for health.
Specifically, the concentration of PM 2.5 fine dust (PM2.5 fine dust is particulate matter floating in the air with a diameter of 2.5 micrometers or smaller) in Ho Chi Minh City at 9:00 a.m. on December 18 was 49.4µg/m³ (the allowable level is about 5 µg/m³). "The concentration of PM 2.5 fine dust in Ho Chi Minh City is currently 9.9 times higher than the value according to WHO's annual air quality guidelines" - Air Visual informed.

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the cold air continues to strengthen southward, then diffuse into the southern region, causing the temperature to drop. From now until Christmas, this temperature will remain and is likely to drop lower, with some days having light fog in the early morning.
It is forecasted that the temperature in Ho Chi Minh City during Christmas will drop to 20 degrees Celsius. In addition, in some provinces in the Southeast, the temperature will likely drop below 20 degrees Celsius.
At the end of the year, the temperature drops, the humidity is high, and fine dust suspended in the air easily condenses, forming fog in the early morning. Therefore, experts recommend that people wear more clothes to keep warm when going out, and wear masks to prevent respiratory diseases.
