Previously, SGGP Newspaper published an article "Strange object" cuts people's legs while swimming in Nha Trang, reflecting that many tourists and people were injured while swimming in the beach area opposite 80 Tran Phu Street. The most serious case was a 5-year-old boy whose leg was cut by a sharp object and required 5 stitches and a tetanus shot.

This area is where an incident occurred when a barge with registration number KH 98668 TS, over 30m long, ran aground and had its engine broken down at the end of 2019. At that time, the ship owner tried to tow the vehicle but was unsuccessful due to big waves and deep grounding. Since then, the barge has been buried in sand.

Nha Trang City believes that recently, when the tide rises and falls, the impact of ocean waves has exposed and raised sharp objects on the bow of the barge above the sand, which could be the cause of people being injured.
