Vietnam women's volleyball team wins second consecutive match at VTV Cup 2025

On the evening of June 29, with the excellence of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team won 3-0 against the Philippines in the second match of Group A of the VTV Cup 2025 international women's volleyball tournament.

Facing the Philippines team that introduced for the first time three American players, Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Phillips and Tia Andaya, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was cautious when fielding the strongest lineup with Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh and Nguyen Thi Uyen.

Entering the match, the Vietnamese team entered the match with confidence and took the lead in the first minutes of the game. However, the Philippines quickly counterattacked like a storm, gradually leveling the gap and even at times overwhelming the Vietnamese team, forcing coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to use the timeout right to adjust the tactics for his students.

The time-out proved to be extremely effective as the Vietnamese team scored 3 consecutive points. Continuing the momentum, the Vietnamese team ended the first game with a score of 25-20 after a powerful smash by Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen.

In set 2, the Vietnamese team continued to dominate in game 2 and at one point was 5 points ahead of the opponent. The pair Bich Tuyen - Bich Thuy continuously scored, bringing valuable points to the home team. After a clever drop shot from Bich Tuyen, the Vietnamese team officially won game 2 with a score of 25-12.

In set 3, the Vietnamese team maintained an extremely stable performance, always leading the opponent by at least 2 points. Bich Tuyen was still the name that put an end to the third set with a powerful smash. In the end, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeated the Philippines team with a score of 3-0. This was the second consecutive win of the Vietnamese team since the beginning of the tournament.
