After nearly 6 months of implementing the non-physical vehicle form (virtual ticket card) for the bus system, up to now, Hanoi has had 48,221 virtual tickets registered, accounting for 47% of monthly tickets.

According to information provided to the press by Mr. Thai Ho Phuong - Director of the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center on September 23, the Hanoi Department of Transport has launched virtual ticket cards for the public passenger transport system to replace paper tickets from April 2.

Virtual ticket cards are set up according to the customer's identification account, displayed on mobile phones, with images and full information like physical chip cards (card code, cardholder information, type of object, card expiration date).

Virtual ticket cards have many benefits in helping to save costs of issuing physical cards, customers do not spend time and travel costs to receive and affix stamps on monthly ticket cards. Virtual ticket cards are valid immediately after successful card registration, convenient for card registration, monthly ticket renewal for participants and tracking the service usage history of individuals. Previously, physical tickets required customers to wait 3-4 days to get the card, not to mention the time spent queuing to affix monthly ticket stamps.

At the same time, it reduces administrative procedures, reduces costs of managing and issuing ticket systems; contributes to limiting fraud and loss of revenue. At the same time, contributes to gradually moving towards the goal of having digital data for complete, accurate and timely management, meeting the management requirements of transport businesses.

From the above initial results, to facilitate people to use virtual cards to participate in public passenger transport even when there is no internet connection, from September 20, the Center continues to deploy the offline virtual card form, applying all monthly tickets and free cards on all subsidized bus routes throughout the network.
