Doctor reveals 2-minute exercise every morning helps you stay young

A doctor has shared that exercising just 2 minutes every morning can help you stay young.

Dr Michael Mosley, a former British doctor, revealed that he has been doing only push-ups and squats every morning for the past 10 years to stay in shape and rejuvenate.

Just 2 minutes every morning with about 20 push-ups and 20 squats

He recommends incorporating push-ups and squats into your daily routine, which has helped his 66-year-old spine return to that of a 25-year-old.

Dr Mosley does push-ups and squats every morning with his wife Claire, also a GP.

Mr Mosley said: These are really good and simple exercises. You just do them first thing in the morning after you wake up. They are also great for the brain because they bring more oxygen to the brain.

The expert explained: "Thanks to doing these two exercises every day, the test results showed that my spine is equivalent to that of a 25-year-old, even though I am 66 years old."

Mr. Mosley has been practicing the above two exercises for about 10 years, and now he can do 35-40 push-ups at a time. Readers can read more about this article on the health page on August 17.

Don't forget that small things only take a few minutes but bring long-term health benefits.

You may have unhealthy habits that are detrimental to your health, but the most important thing is that you realize it and change.

Below, Science A2Z shares 5 habits that can be done in just a few minutes to help you live a healthier and more attractive life.

Read a book before going to bed

Reading before bed can help reduce stress, just like meditation and yoga. Research shows that reading before bed improves sleep quality by increasing the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. It also improves concentration skills, boosts brain power, reduces the risk of degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, and boosts creativity.

A 2020 study found that reducing phone use before bed for four weeks improved sleep quality, sleep duration, and memory. Another study found that using a phone before bed was associated with poor sleep. The next part of this article will be on the health page on August 17 .

Knee pain when working out at the gym, went to the doctor and found out it was bone cancer

Amy Haigh suddenly felt a dull ache in her knee. She ignored the pain, but when she went to the gym, the pain and swelling became worse. The test results shocked her: the cause of the pain was bone cancer.

Amy Haigh (27 years old) lives in Auckland, New Zealand. In March 2022, her left knee suddenly felt a dull pain. The girl thought it was probably due to an injury after a horse riding trip.

Amy Haigh had no idea her knee pain was caused by osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

She did not go to the doctor for a check-up but instead self-recovered. But soon after, her knee became painful and swollen every time she went to the gym. Over the next 6 months, she went to a physical therapist and an orthopedist, but none of the treatments were effective.

Her personal trainer noticed something was wrong and suggested Ms Haigh get a CT scan. In September 2022, she went to the hospital for a check-up and was ordered to have an MRI scan. The results revealed that she had osteosarcoma, the most common type of primary bone cancer.

Being diagnosed with cancer at such a young age and with a healthy lifestyle shocked Ms Haigh. "I've always been very active and healthy, never had any serious illnesses, just the occasional cold. I started going to the gym in 2019 and I'm a horse rider," Ms Haigh said. Start your day with health news to see more of this article!
