The playground is for students from grades 1 to 9 nationwide, organized to carry out the tasks of "Supporting the implementation of the 2018 General Education Mathematics program" and "Supporting talent training and improving the quality of human resources in the Mathematics industry" of the national key program for developing Mathematics in the period 2021-2030.
At the launching ceremony, the Scientific Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Professor, Doctor of Science Ngo Bao Chau emphasized: The most important goal when organizing the Vietnam Mathematical Playground is to help more and more students learn Mathematics with enthusiasm, joy and interest. From there, contributing to helping them adapt in the context of the stormy development of artificial intelligence.

Professor, Dr. Ngo Bao Chau said: The National Key Mathematics Program not only aims to enhance Vietnam's position in the international arena, but also has the important task of bringing mathematics into life and supporting the implementation of the mathematics program in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Mathematics Playground aims to help students approach mathematics as a joy, instead of pressure or fear. Although not everyone has a special talent, every student can acquire the necessary basic skills and knowledge.
Sharing the same view, Deputy Director of General Education Department ( Ministry of Education and Training ) Ta Ngoc Tri affirmed: To become a person who lives well in society, many different abilities are needed, including abilities closely related to learning Math, such as creativity and problem solving.
Mr. Ta Ngoc Tri also emphasized that Vietnamese students still have a lot of potential to nurture their love of Mathematics. However, the important thing is to change the “culture” of learning Mathematics, not to study for exams or to get high scores, but to study Mathematics to train thinking, to be smarter and to know how to apply it to solve problems in life, thereby living a better life.

VNMF was built with the mission of creating a positive, creative, and highly communal Math learning space, spreading the love of Math to all classes of students across the country; from excellent students to students who are not confident with Math. The playground encourages students to participate through gamified competitions, combining creative activities, arousing the interest in discovery instead of the pressure of scores.
Through VNMF, students develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork and creativity in Mathematics, access modern educational technology, practice digital skills and self-study ability through the program's online platform. Notably, VNMF contributes to discovering and nurturing students with mathematical talent early, creating a source of students for national and international competitions for excellent students.
The highlight of the Vietnamese Math playground is the in-depth exam questions, requiring students to have rigorous mathematical thinking, good presentation skills, suitable for many types of students. The online exam format with a friendly interface, many interesting question types, can be practiced every day. The exam questions are designed to be modern, creative, highly applicable and follow global trends; students with high achievements also have the opportunity to be honored internationally.
Within the framework of the event, the seminar "Innovation in the culture of teaching and learning Mathematics" was held with the participation of many leading experts in the field of Mathematics education.
The seminar is a space for educators, experts and researchers in Mathematics to connect and discuss new trends in teaching and learning, the roles of teachers and students in the modern classroom, as well as the potential of applying technology and artificial intelligence to personalize each learner's Math learning journey. This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese teacher and student community to deeply review the "Culture of Teaching and Learning Mathematics" - a factor that has not been properly named but strongly influences the way students approach this subject.
VNMF is designed to include 5 individual competitions, increasing in difficulty and depth of thinking. The program will be implemented from August 2, 2025 until the end of the 2025-2026 school year (expected April 2026).
The warm-up stage is a free trial test, with no limit on the number of times you take the test. The discovery stage is a conditional test, consisting of 3 tests. The challenge stage is a school-level test, consisting of 2 tests (test number 1 awards school-level prizes, test number 2 selects students to participate in the provincial-level test). The conquest stage is a provincial-level test, consisting of one test. The shining stage is a national-level test, consisting of one online test and one essay test.
Students participate from the starting stage and continue to participate in the next stages depending on their ability and progress. In addition to the stages, the playground also organizes an online competition system, academic exchanges and many community activities, helping students enhance their comprehensive learning experience.
Organization form: online exam on platform: https://vnmf.edu.vn. National exam is held directly in Hanoi.
