To be proactive in forest fire prevention and fighting, on June 27, the working group of the Forest Protection Department (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) inspected forest fire prevention and fighting in Xich Tho commune (Nho Quan district) and worked with the Nho Quan district Forest Protection Management Board. Also present were representatives of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department (Provincial Police).
Xich Tho is the focus of forest fire prevention in Nho Quan district. The commune currently has 400 hectares of protected forests on rocky mountains and nearly 200 hectares of production forests. Notably, there are more than 11 hectares of pine forests and 4.2 hectares of chestnut forests, which are perennial, rare forests that need strict protection.
Reporting to the working delegation, the representative of the People's Committee of Xich Tho commune said: With the motto of taking prevention as the main task, the commune has promptly completed the Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Command Board, and at the same time assigned specific responsibilities to members associated with the area in charge. During the peak of hot weather, regularly inspect and supervise the implementation of the forest fire prevention plan at forest gates; closely monitor the use of fire in production, cultivation, and vegetation treatment. Since the beginning of the year, there have been no forest fires in the commune.
According to information from Nho Quan Forest Protection Department, the whole district has 16,662 hectares of forested land. Of which, natural forest is nearly 13,800 hectares, planted forest is nearly 2,900 hectares.
To effectively implement forest fire prevention and fighting, right from the beginning of the year, Nho Quan district has completed the Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Command Committee from the district to the commune level as well as forest fire prevention and fighting mass teams. Develop forest fire prevention and fighting plans, strengthen propaganda, dissemination and education of forest fire prevention and fighting laws in the community.
Since the beginning of the year, a forest fire occurred in Gia Lam commune in the district, but it was detected, prevented and promptly extinguished so there was no significant damage.
After inspecting the field and preparing tools, equipment and related documents, the representative of the Forest Protection Department's working group pointed out the good and bad aspects of forest fire prevention and fighting in the locality. At the same time, it is recommended that in the coming time, Nho Quan district should continue to strengthen inspection of forest protection and forest fire prevention and fighting, and absolutely not be subjective or negligent. Supplement and complete the forest fire prevention and fighting plan; inspect, review and have a plan to overcome and handle forest areas with too thick a layer of ground cover.
Strictly implement forest fire prevention and control duties during the hot season; strictly control subjects and vehicles entering and leaving the forest. Mobilize people to sign a commitment to comply with forest fire prevention and control regulations. Specialized agencies and forest owners regularly monitor forest fire warning information to inspect and detect forest fires early. Prepare vehicles and forces to respond when forest fires occur.
