Launched in August 2024, directed by the Department of Disease Prevention and organized by the Ministry of Health and the Health & Life Newspaper, the contest has attracted unprecedented widespread response from the entire health system, including public and private sectors, from central to local levels.
Patients and their families participate in the assessment.
According to the Organizing Committee, more than 2,000 medical facilities across 34 provinces and cities have registered to participate. The rules and criteria for evaluating participating units are invested in a strict, objective and impartial manner, through 3 scoring sections.
Firstly, medical facilities self-score according to the Green - Clean - Beautiful Medical Facility Criteria; secondly, the score is based on the actual video of the medical facility and any initiatives; thirdly, the score is based on the QR-code results of the contest that people scan and evaluate at the participating medical facility.
The score of each medical facility is the average score of the judges. The Jury at all levels scores independently and accurately according to the scale of the answers. The Jury of the Ministry of Health has conducted field inspections at a number of medical facilities.
The participation of patients and their relatives in evaluating the green - clean - beautiful quality of medical facilities is a breakthrough highlight and a testament to the success of the contest as well as the application of digital transformation in the medical field. Nearly 350,000 patients, relatives and people participated in the survey and contributed their opinions via QR codes.

The competition attracted many public and private medical facilities.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that a green medical facility is not just adding a few rows of trees and flower pots, it is the mindset of a sustainable medical ecosystem, where we proactively save energy, reduce plastic waste, and link medical examination and treatment activities with environmental protection. That is the profound message of "prevention is better than cure".
A clean medical facility is not just a space free of trash, it is an absolutely safe treatment environment, minimizing the risk of cross-infection, protecting the health of patients and the medical staff.
And a beautiful medical facility is not only about architectural aesthetics, but also about the beauty of dedication, of a healing space, where physical pain is soothed and the patient's spirit is at peace and trust. That is comprehensive care.
According to the leaders of the Ministry of Health, it is commendable that this movement not only has the participation of the public health system but also records the enthusiastic participation of private health facilities. This affirms the correct policy of the Party in Resolution No. 10 on developing the private economy, creating a combined strength and healthy competition, to jointly improve the quality of services, serving the people better.

The award structure for 5 medical facilities includes: Central medical facilities; Provincial medical facilities; District medical facilities (now regional); Commune medical facilities; Private medical facilities.
