Lao Cai strengthens forest management and protection

Since the beginning of the year, the province has protected nearly 493,000 hectares of forests of all kinds; planted more than 11,700 hectares of concentrated forests, nearly 7 million scattered trees and nearly 8,200 hectares of protected and regenerated forests.

In recent times, the management, protection, and prevention and fighting of forest fires have continued to receive attention from the provincial government and people. The entire forested area in the area has been basically well managed and protected; the functional forces have maintained a regular on-call regime according to the "4 on-site" motto, ready to promptly handle any arising situations.

In the first 7 months of 2025, there were 4 forest fires in the province, damaging 5,940 m² of natural forest and 9,870 m² of crops. The main cause was people burning fields, causing the fire to spread into the forest.

At the same time, in the two villages of Lang Cu and Lang Tat (Bac Ha commune), 1.8 hectares of cinnamon trees 2-6 years old were damaged by beetles.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, in the first 7 months of 2025, the whole province protected nearly 493,000 hectares of forests of all types, including: protective forests, special-use forests, production forests and natural forests. Forest planting achieved positive results with more than 11,735 hectares of concentrated forests, nearly 7 million scattered trees, and nearly 8,200 hectares of protected and regenerated forests.

Forestry exploitation and processing activities also achieved high output, with nearly 839,000 m3 of wood, 86,307 tons of various forest products, 754,053 steres of firewood, 36,300 tons of dry cinnamon bark and 168,300 tons of cinnamon branches and leaves...
