In recent times, the management, protection, and prevention and fighting of forest fires have continued to receive attention from the provincial government and people. The entire forested area in the area has been basically well managed and protected; the functional forces have maintained a regular on-call regime according to the "4 on-site" motto, ready to promptly handle any arising situations.

In the first 7 months of 2025, there were 4 forest fires in the province, damaging 5,940 m² of natural forest and 9,870 m² of crops. The main cause was people burning fields, causing the fire to spread into the forest.
At the same time, in the two villages of Lang Cu and Lang Tat (Bac Ha commune), 1.8 hectares of cinnamon trees 2-6 years old were damaged by beetles.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, in the first 7 months of 2025, the whole province protected nearly 493,000 hectares of forests of all types, including: protective forests, special-use forests, production forests and natural forests. Forest planting achieved positive results with more than 11,735 hectares of concentrated forests, nearly 7 million scattered trees, and nearly 8,200 hectares of protected and regenerated forests.
