According to Times Of Israel, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office confirmed on August 8 that the country's cabinet has approved Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to let the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) control the entire city of Gaza in the north of the strip.
In a statement, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office added that the cabinet supported Mr Netanyahu's proposal to "defeat Hamas" as well as provide humanitarian aid to civilians outside the war zone.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said a majority of cabinet members also supported a list of five conditions that Israel would demand in exchange for ending the war with Hamas, including: Hamas's disarmament; the release of all 50 remaining Israeli hostages (20 of whom are believed to be still alive); demilitarization of the Gaza Strip; Israeli security control of the Gaza Strip; and the existence of an alternative civilian government that is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority.
Earlier, on August 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told his ministers that he would seek cabinet support for his plan to take control of the entire Gaza Strip, despite opposition from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Gaza City is part of the 25% of the Gaza Strip that the IDF still does not control, along with several refugee camps in central Gaza.
It is unclear whether other unoccupied areas outside Gaza City will be taken over.
Israel's occupation of Gaza City would likely require the evacuation of Gaza City, which is home to some 800,000 people.
