Specifically, the Thai women's team dropped 7 places, from 46th to 53rd. In the past 2 months, the Thai women's team was deducted 27 points due to poor performance, including a defeat against India in the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers.

The Indian women's team was considered a weaker opponent than Thailand. However, the Thai women's team lost to their opponent right on their home field and accepted to miss out on a ticket to the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship.

World ranking 53 is the lowest position in the history of Thai women's football. According to FIFA statistics, since the women's football rankings were established in 2003, the lowest ranking ever recorded for the Thai women's team is 48 (December 15, 2023).

However, a long period of disappointing performance since the end of 2022 has made it easy for the Thai women's team to break their own sad record. The Thai women's team is currently in Vietnam to compete in the 2025 AFF Women's Championship.

The Thai women's team really wants to regain its lost glory, but they have to face strong competition from host Vietnam and the naturalized stars of the Philippines.

According to the latest FIFA rankings, the Vietnamese women's team was awarded 2.09 points, maintaining its 37th place in the world, 6th in Asia and 1st in Southeast Asia.

The Philippine women's team received 7.01 points, moving up two places to 39th in the world, 7th in Asia and 2nd in Southeast Asia.
