Cambodia arrests Vietnamese man accused of killing his wife

Cambodian police arrested a 37-year-old Vietnamese man accused of murdering his wife at their home in Phnom Penh after a two-day manhunt.

Cambodian police announced the arrest of a Vietnamese suspect, whose identity has not been released, on the morning of August 18 in O Andong 1 village, Chbar Ampov area, Phnom Penh. The suspect was then transferred to Meanchey district police for further processing.

Authorities determined that at around 11 p.m. on August 16, the man stabbed his wife to death at their home in Prek Ta Kong 3 village, Chak Angre Ley commune, Meanchey district, Phnom Penh. After committing the crime, he fled with his 6-year-old son.

The wife was found unresponsive, lying in a pool of blood. Neighbors rushed her to a district clinic, but she died. Officials have not released information about the victim’s nationality, but local media reported that she was also Vietnamese.

The man's motive for murdering his wife has not been released.
